Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones escaped a catastrophic knee injury on Sunday, but he is unlikely to
play on Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions.
Jones suffered an MCL sprain and is expected to miss a week, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on
Tuesday, citing an informed source. With a Thursday game in less than 48 hours, the RB is unlikely to be ready in
time for Week 12.
Jones was knocked out of Sunday’s victory over the Los Angeles Chargers after 15 plays. He was taken off the field
after suffering what appeared to be a serious injury. Those anxieties were alleviated after the game, when Packers
head coach Matt LaFleur stated that he did not believe the injury was permanent. Jones’s availability on a week-to-
week basis is a significant advantage for the Packers as they try to stay in the NFC race.
Thursday will likely be Jones’ fourth missed game of the season, as he dealt with a hamstring ailment earlier this
season, missing three games and hardly playing in the first meeting with Detroit on September 28.
With rookie Emanuel Wilson also breaking his shoulder in Week 11, Green Bay will rely heavily on running back AJ
Dillon on Thanksgiving. On Monday, the team signed Patrick Taylor off of the Patriots’ practice squad and added
veteran James Robinson to it.
