Sadio Mane, a former Liverpool striker, married his 19-year-old lover Aisha Tamba in a secret ceremony in Senegal.
The wedding is thought to have taken place on January 7 in Keur Massar, a neighborhood in Dakar’s capital city, just
six days before the Africa Cup of Nations begins on January 13.
The gathering was claimed to be attended by family, friends, and other football players.
Reports claim. Aisha ‘was long destined for the 31-year-old footballer from her teenage years’, though it is unclear
how long they have been together. Senegal has a legal age of consent of 16 years.
Pulse Sports also revealed that the former Liverpool star paid her bills while in school.
Aisha was initially reported to be 18 years old, but Senegalese media reported on Tuesday night that she was 19 and
lived in a suburb of the city Dakar.
The pair follows the same religion, Islam, and are both considered to be private. A few official wedding images were posted on @SMane_Officiel, with the remark ‘thanks to God’ written in Arabic.
The wedding photos were posted on Instagram by the photographic company @Magvision_Evens_Officiel. The
photographs show Mane and his wife, who grew up in Senegal’s Casamance region and is the daughter of an
architect, holding hands and posing following the ceremony.
One shot depicts the couple seated behind a display of roses, with the words ‘Mrs Mane’ engraved on the wall.
A video released on X (previously Twitter) by @abdullahayofel showed the couple smiling and joking as they sat on a
sofa after their wedding.
Aisha is shown in wedding images wearing a mermaid-style elaborate, fitting, lacey dress with long sleeves and a
silky veil.
Other photographs show her wearing a second ensemble, a silk white top and skirt paired with a heavy gold necklace
and earrings. The bride has henna on both hands.
In the photos, Mane is dressed in traditional Senegalese attire.
During his tenure at Liverpool, Mane did not officially reveal any romances and kept Aisha a secret.
Back in 2022, he had spoken up about the type of person he would marry.
‘I’ve seen a lot of girls ask me why I’m not married, but I apologize if you’re wasting your time. Mane told the Tribune
that the woman he will marry will not be on social networks.
‘I want to marry a woman who values God and prays effectively. “Everyone has their own way of choosing love,”
Mane continued.
The footballer first noticed Aisha when she was 16, but he did not approach her formally at the time, according to
Sports Brief.
However, he apparently expressed his plans to his uncle, a family acquaintance, which resulted in their eventual
union.
