Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens wasn’t just encroaching on the Kansas City Chiefs’ warmups before Sunday’s
AFC Championship. Travis Kelce revealed to his brother Jason on this week’s episode of their New Heights podcast
that the NFL icon was truly playing head games.
‘Don’t think of me as the bad person,’ Travis warned Jason, the Philadelphia Eagles center. ‘He poked the beast.’
Prior to the Chiefs’ 17-10 victory over the Ravens, Kelce was seen furiously moving Tucker’s gear while the famed
kicker stretched near Kansas City’s end of the field, just a few steps away from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. NFL
Network’s James Palmer captured the exchange on his cell phone, and the video instantly went viral.
‘I had many people text me at the end of the game, midst of the game, saying: ”What’s Travis doing?”’ Jason stated.
Travis criticized Tucker on their podcast, saying, ‘If you’re trying to get into the other team’s allocated area, you kind
of keep out of their way. You do not meddle with their activities… That is the unwritten rule. If you want to be a
f***ing d*** about it, keep your helmet, football, and kicking tee exactly where the quarterbacks warm up. And
they’re falling back [to pass], their eyes are looking to the left, and they have a helmet at their feet.
Jason was quick to point out that ‘it’s actually kind of risky,’ while agreeing with his brother on the kicking.
‘Tucker is known for this,’ Jason explained. ‘He’s a famous kicker who understands how to press the buttons.’
Travis claimed Tucker grinned at him and appeared to be pressuring the Chiefs into some head games, but he and
Mahomes were having none of it.
‘Me and Pat have had the same approach for this game all week,’ Travis said Jason. ‘It was, you had to walk in there
with the correct mindset. And we just weren’t in the mood to joke. We were prepared to get after it.
Tucker has already defended himself before media following Baltimore’s season-ending loss.
