Gee Atherton was airlifted from the 2023 Red Bull Rampage course by helicopter after crashing on his first attempt
at a big mid-mountain drop. Gee is conscious, and we hope that the unsubstantiated claims that he can wiggle his
toes on the stretcher are a good indication.
Competitors have noted Gee’s drop as particularly tough and terrifying. It was rather windy when he sent it this
morning, and most other cyclists didn’t intend to ride at the time. He struck the drop hard, moving a little back and
to the right in the air and falling deep before crashing.”
We’re devastated for Gee, who has been trying to recover from a 2021 crash that left him with numerous broken
bones and other injuries. Sending healing energies to Gee, and we’ll update when more information becomes
available.
Gee’s uploaded his crash on Instagram with the description “Heavy day at RedBull Rampage; this one was always
going to be a beast.”
According to Gee, his injuries are minor, but for most people, “some fractures to vertebrae and a few skull fractures”
would be considered severe.
