Bruins Sign Defenseman to Long-Term Contract
This defenseman will be retained by the Bruins.
It’s hardly a trade, but the Boston Bruins have made their first move of the deadline day. Rather, defenseman Parker Wotherspoon has agreed to a one-year, $800,000 contract deal with the Original Six team.
The 26-year-old Wotherspoon has been the Bruins’ 2023–24 season’s happy ending. The seasoned AHL defenseman’s physicality and consistent defensive play have solidified his place on Boston’s roster. As a result, he has now earned himself a small extension.
Wotherspoon will always provide the Bruins’ blue line with reliable depth at a very reasonable cost.
With the Bruins this season, Wotherspoon has made a career-high 32 appearances. He has six assists, 54 blocks, 67 hits, and a plus-5 rating. Earlier in the season, he played for the Providence Bruins as well, where he finished with one goal and five points in 19 contests.
