As the dust settles on the SEC coaching carousel, here are all the offseason updates and new faces for 2024.
For many years, the SEC has taken pleasure in being one of the strongest conferences in college football. However,
the grind of the SEC schedule and the high level of competition can frequently force some schools to make coaching
changes in the offseason. As the head coaching carousel appears to be nearing to an end, here are the most recent
reports on coaching changes in the league.
Following the departure of famous head coach Nick Saban, Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer will take over as
Alabama’s new coach. DeBoer led Washington to a 25-3 record and a berth in last year’s national championship
game.
The Texas A&M Aggies got a jump start on the coaching hunt when they fired Jimbo Fisher in mid-November of
2023. Following Fisher’s departure, the organization announced the appointment of Mike Elko, Duke’s head coach,
as the team’s next head coach.
Zach Arnett’s first season following Mike Leach’s untimely death was nothing short of terrible, as he was sacked after
the Bulldogs finished 4-6. Following Arnett’s dismissal, Mississippi State selected Oklahoma offensive coordinator
Jeff Lebby as the team’s next head coach. This will be his first season as the head coach.
Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian will be able to witness how his team performs in its debut season in the
SEC following conference realignment. While it will be a new experience for the Longhorns, Sark’s past experience at
Alabama should help make the transition as smooth as possible.
