Collin Johnson, a free agent, has returned to the Bears on a one-year contract, while former 49ers safety Tarvarius
Moore has also signed with Chicago.
The Bears signed former Packers and 49ers safety Tarvarius Moore, as well as their own free agent wide out Collin
Johnson, ahead of free agency, which begins next week.
Moore, a 6-foot-2, 200-pounder, is 27 years old and was drafted by the 49ers in the third round out of Southern
Mississippi in 2018.
Moore started 13 games and appeared in 61 for the 49ers from 2018 to 22. In 2021, he tore his Achilles tendon and
had to miss the full season.
Moore signed with Green Bay last year but injured his knee in Week 2 of the preseason. The Packers cut him and
released him with an injury settlement. At the outset of training camp, he was seen as one of the players who could
win the battle to replace Adrian Amos, who was not retained in free agency.
However, his injuries plus the play of others forced the Packers to release him. He appeared on 1,096 special teams
snaps and 1,046 defensive snaps for the 49ers, with the majority of the defensive plays coming in 2020.
Johnson, a 6-foot-6, 222-pound receiver, signed with the Bears last year and appeared in three games after
previously playing for Jacksonville in 2020 and the Giants in 2021. He had an 11-yard reception last season. In 2020,
he caught 18 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns for Jacksonville, and in 2021, he caught 11 passes for 105
yards with the Giants.
The Jaguars selected him in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He went on injured reserve in 2022 due to a torn
Achiles tendon.
