Rumors about who would replace Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) started to circulate once it was announced
that he was leaving HRC. A rumor suggested that Johann Zarco of Prima Pramac Racing would take over as factory
seat. Although the Frenchman only inked his 2024 LCR Honda contract two months ago, a lot has happened since
then.
The Johann Zarco rumor is currently one of the most serious among all the other rumors. In 2024, Zarco will ride for
the LCR Honda squad, he stated to the French channel Canal +, after expressing interest in the factory seat.
“I’m definitely going to stay with Lucio. Honda’s proposal was insufficiently detailed for the ensuing two seasons. It’s
possible to work with the factory team for a year and then return with Cecchinello, but the details aren’t quite
apparent. It’s preferable to focus all of my efforts on the LCR project for the next two years and work as hard as I can
with Honda fully supporting the Cecchinello team, similar to how Ducati works with Pramac. Therefore, it’s best to
focus on Cecchinello rather than searching for an official team, though it would have been wonderful for the
prominent side. It’s not like there isn’t a true offer; rather, they won’t see the project for two years.
Johann Zarco is no longer a contender in the race for the second factory seat, and we’re waiting to hear who will
replace Joan Mir (Repsol Honda Team) in 2024!
