“I truly do believe every time I step on the floor, I’m the best player.”
From Jayson Tatum: Jayson Tatum is already in his sixth NBA season despite only being 25 years old. Once again,
the star player for the Boston Celtics has been a major factor in the team’s success (Boston presently has the best
record in the NBA).
How does he compare to the best players in the league, then? Tatum had an interview with Malika Andrews of ESPN
during the recent All-Star break. He covered a wide range of topics, such as the team’s unity and his comparison of
the Boston rosters from 2022 and 2022, which advanced to the NBA Finals but were defeated there.
When asked who, in his opinion, is the best player in the NBA right now, Tatum responded bluntly.
“Myself,” he said. Andrews noted that Tatum had provided an amended response, citing Bucks star Giannis
Antetokounmpo in a 2023 interview.
Since then, what has changed for Tatum?
Tatum clarified, “I have a great deal of respect for a lot of guys in the league.” “[Nikola] Jokic, who recently won the
title, [Joel] Embiid, players who have won MVP awards, and the list goes on, Giannis for sure. The league is doing
fantastically. I reflect on the experiences I’ve had, the accomplishments I’ve made throughout my career, and the fact
that I haven’t won the ultimate championship.
Tatum declared, “I really do think I’m the best player every time I step on the floor.””
Tatum has already attended four Eastern Conference Finals and an NBA Finals, as he pointed out. Nevertheless,
Boston lost to the Warriors in the NBA Finals of 2022 and has had numerous difficult postseason defeats, including
one to the Heat a year ago.
Tatum said why he is truly appreciative of the hardships he has endured in light of them.
