Since Samuel had not yet signed the deal, the individuals spoke to the AP under the condition of anonymity. The

agreement was initially reported by ESPN.com.

According to one of the persons, Samuel, 27, has a contract that guarantees him $15 million in salary and contains

bonuses that might raise its value to $30 million.

After spending the last three in Washington, where he exceeded 60 catches and 600 yards receiving in each of his

last two seasons and combined for 10 touchdowns (eight receiving, two rushing), Samuel has seven seasons of NFL

experience.

Compared to Samuel’s first season in Washington, when he was sidelined by hamstring and groin problems, the

output was a significant improvement.

After serving four seasons in Carolina, Samuel rejoins Joe Brady, the offensive coordinator for the Bills, who was the

same position holder with the Panthers in 2020.

Samuel caught 77 passes for 851 yards and three touchdowns in his rookie campaign. In addition, he set career highs

with two touchdowns and 200 yards on 41 carries.

Samuel may take over in Buffalo in the starting position that became available after Gabe Davis left in free agency.

With Diggs, receiver Khalil Shakir, and tight end Dalton Kincaid leading a pass-oriented offense, he also gives

Buffalo a quick threat to wear out defenses.

Buffalo signed Mack Hollins to a one-year contract this week, adding receiving depth to their roster.

The Ohio State star selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft has totaled 317 receptions for 3,383 yards, 22

receiving touchdowns, and seven rushes.

Separately, running back Ty Johnson signed a one-year contract to return to Buffalo for a second season. Johnson’s

involvement in a pass-catching capacity increased throughout the second half of the previous season, which

increased the fifth-year player’s role.
