QB C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans has been selected for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games. In Texans history, Stroud is
just the second offensive rookie to receive this award.
With a passer rating of 100.8—the third-best by a rookie quarterback in NFL history—and 319 of 499 pass attempts
completed for a rookie franchise-record 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, five interceptions, Stroud, who was selected
second overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, took the NFL by storm this season. He started in all 15 of his games. He led all
rookies in every significant passing category this season and finished third among rookie signal callers in NFL
history with 4,108 passing yards during the regular season.
With his postseason total of 4,557 passing yards, Stroud concluded his rookie campaign in 2023 with the second-
most passing yards of any rookie in NFL history, only surpassed by Andrew Luck (4,662) in 2012. His record-
breaking start to his career was the most pass attempts without an interception by a player at the start of their career
—192. Stroud topped the NFL in both passing yards per game (273.9) and touchdown-interception ratio (4.60), making him one of only three players in NFL history to finish first in both categories, along with Joe Montana (1989)
and Tom Brady (2007).
His 470-yard, five-touchdown effort against Tampa Bay in Week 9 tied the NFL record most passing yards by a
rookie quarterback and established the record for touchdown passes by a rookie, among many other milestone-
setting efforts. He was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time as a result of his effort; the
Texans won their first division title since 2019 and secured a playoff berth in Week 18 against Indianapolis, earning
him a second Player of the Week nomination.
In addition, Stroud was named the AFC Player of the Month and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for the month
of November. He is only the fifth player in league history to win both titles simultaneously, and the second rookie
quarterback to win AFC Offensive Player of the Month.
