Born in Canada on November 11, 1980, Christopher Kelly is a former professional ice hockey player and the Boston

Bruins’ assistant coach at the moment. Kelly was a National Hockey League (NHL) player for the Ottawa Senators,

Boston Bruins, and Anaheim Ducks. He played on the 2011 Stanley Cup-winning Bruins team.

At the 2017 Spengler Cup, he and Team Canada took home the gold. Kelly captained the men’s ice hockey team for

Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics, helping the team win a bronze medal.

Kelly was raised in Bowmanville, an hour’s drive east of Toronto, where she was born.[3] He began participating in

the Bowmanville Toros AA program and the Bowmanville Recreational Hockey League.[Reference required] He

represented the Toronto Marlboros minor ice hockey club in the 1994 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey

Tournament.[4] He played hockey with the Aurora Tigers in the OHA Jr. A. for a single year.[3] The London Knights

of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) then selected Kelly in the fourth round, 56th overall, of the 1997 OHL Priority

Selection.

Kelly was a player with the Knights and the Sudbury Wolves in major junior competition. His OHL scoring record of

36 goals in 1998–1999 was a career high. In the middle of the season, he participated in the CHL Top Prospects

Game as a member of Team Orr. He led the Knights to the OHL Final with nine goals and 26 points in 25 games

during the playoffs in the Ontario Hockey League.[Reference required]

Kelly played in four games with Ottawa in 2003–04, the first being on February 5, 2004, against the Toronto Maple

Leafs. He established himself as a mainstay in Ottawa’s lineup during his first campaign of 2005–06, playing in all

82 games and scoring 30 points while assuming a checking role. He played for the Senators the next season, when

they made it to the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals.[7]
