Will Grier has found a new opportunity after losing his position with the Dallas Cowboys due to the acquisition of
Trey Lance.
Grier is allegedly poised to join the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad.
Grier was drafted in the third round by the Carolina Panthers in 2019, and he has spent the past four years
alternating between Carolina and Dallas.
As a rookie, he started two games for the Panthers, his only regular-season appearances.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Grier will now join the Bengals’ practice squad.
Dak Prescott, the Cowboys’ starting quarterback, showed respect for Grier while reminiscing on the deal that
resulted in his release.
This added another element of intricacy to the decision to bring in a new third-string quarterback only two weeks
before the regular season begins.
Grier will now be the Bengals’ third-choice quarterback, while Joe Burrow and Jake Browning remain the primary
choices on the active roster.
If Burrow, who is nursing a calf ailment, is unable to play in Week 1 against Cleveland, Grier is expected to be
upgraded to the active roster. In this situation, he would serve as Browning’s backup.
