Here’s what Michigan football’s injury situation looks like before it plays Washington.
Michigan is attempting to capture their first national championship in the new age of football, the College Football
Playoff. Michigan’s last national title dates back to 1997, and the Wolverines have a chance to win one again on
Monday night against the Washington Huskies.
The Wolverines, as they have all year, revealed their injury report two hours before kickoff, and, as with Alabama,
practically all hands appear to be on deck for the season’s biggest game.
Rotational defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny was hurt in the Rose Bowl and will not play against the Huskies. Cole
Cabana, a freshman running back, is likewise not available.
Safety Quinten Johnson is listed as questionable versus the Huskies. Johnson made several key plays against
Alabama a week ago.
Dillon Johnson, Washington’s running back, is the owner of the foot in question. He’s the Huskies’ leading rusher
this season, but he’s been nursing a chronic left foot injury for quite some time.
Johnson worsened the injury late in Washington’s CFP semifinal victory against Texas in the Sugar Bowl and was
observed leaving the field in pain. According to Huskies coach Kalen DeBoer, Johnson will play through it.
Michigan has reported no new injuries. The most significant loss for the Wolverines is that of unanimous First Team
All-American offensive tackle Zak Zinter. Zinter, regarded as the best interior lineman available in the 2024 NFL
Draft, was sidelined for the season after suffering a leg injury against Ohio State.
