DEAL DONE: Pittsburgh Steelers announce signing of another star player from..

According to sports reporter Josina Anderson, former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback James Pierre Jr. has signed a

free agent contract with the Washington Commanders.

OLD - LIVE: Mike Tomlin Weekly Press Conference

Pierre played his first four NFL seasons with the Steelers. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent from

Central Florida. Pierre participated in 66 games, including six starts on defense. Pierre was never a terrific defensive

player, but he made important contributions on special teams.

Pierre was one of four Steelers cornerbacks who became available for free agency, but he is the only one who has yet

to sign with another team. Levi Wallace, Chandon Sullivan, and Elijah Riley are also unsigned with the Steelers. The

Steelers traded wide receiver Diontae Johnson for cornerback Donte Jackson. He should start opposite Joey Porter

Jr., who just left Pittsburgh in need of depth at the position and a reliable slot player.
