All eyes are on Perez this season to see if he can make amends for 2023 by having a much better year. Despite driving

the identical car as Max Verstappen, Perez only managed to finish second, with nine podium finishes in 22 races.

With Daniel Ricciardo, Yuki Tsunoda, and super-sub Liam Lawson all waiting in the wings for a shot with Red Bull,

the burden is on Perez to perform and help Red Bull win another title without repeating last season’s difficulties and

mishaps.

Perez has delivered in the first two races of 2024, finishing second in both after making some decisive overtaking

maneuvers and providing capable support for Max Verstappen – exactly the type of performance expected of him.

Alpine reserve driver Jack Doohan and Diego Mejia from Fox Sports Mexico spoke on the F1 Nation podcast after the

race about Perez’s performance and whether he will remain with Red Bull in 2025.

“I think, for now, he’s doing enough,” Doohan said of Perez.

“While Red Bull has a significant lead over the rest of the field, he’s doing enough.” We can tell that he’s trailing Max

by two to four tenths.

“When the field finally closes in on that Red Bull and the gap narrows to one or two tenths, Checo [Perez] will have to

close in and try to get more out of that Red Bull to ensure that he maintains that one-two.”

“He’s ensuring that he keeps them and the car in the window so that he can maintain a healthy lead over the

Constructors and accomplish what they want him to do.

“They don’t want him to get too close to Max but, for right now, he’s doing what he needs to do.”
