Packers president Mark Murphy announced on Tuesday that the NFL is deciding between the Packers and the
Browns to face the Eagles in Brazil next season.
The league’s first-ever game in Brazil will be played in São Paulo on Friday night of Week 1 and televised on Peacock,
with Philadelphia as the official home team. Green Bay is set to be the away team in a game versus the Eagles, which
could be played abroad rather than in Philadelphia. The Packers played in a foreign country for the first time in
2022, as the “home team” versus the Giants in London.
Though the Packers appear to have a sizable fan base in Brazil, Murphy identified one potential disadvantage of the
NFL sending the Packers there. Feel free to determine how much of a disadvantage it actually is.
“We’re very supportive of international play,” Murphy told local reporters during the NFL’s annual meeting. “The
one difficulty with Green Bay, however, is the size of our airport and runway, and we want to ensure that we’re not at
a competitive disadvantage in terms of how long it will take us to reach Brazil. Some others believe we may have to
bus to Milwaukee and then fly, among other things. And I expect to hear out within a week, so it’s either us or
