NFL star who was not franchise-tagged by the Dolphins, cashed in Monday by agreeing to a four-year contract worth
$110 million, with $84.75 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network.
Wilkins joins a long list of stud defensive tackles who have signed four-year contracts, dating back to last offseason
when Javon Hargrave (49ers), Jeffrey Simmons (Titans), Quinnen Williams (Jets), Dexter Lawrence (Giants), and
Da’Ron Payne (Commanders) all reset the market beneath future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald. Only Hargrave
switched teams in that group.
Wilkins’ contract is larger than all five of those accords, as predicted due to salary-cap inflation, and larger than
Justin Madubuike’s four-year, $98 million signing with the Ravens last week. However, it is still less than the five-
year, $158.7 million agreement signed by First-Team All-Pro Chris Jones with the Chiefs on Saturday to avoid free
agency.
The addition of Wilkins completes the Raiders’ offseason makeover, which also includes the appointment of general
manager Tom Telesco and the promotion of interim head coach Antonio Pierce to full-time status. The team’s
cornerback situation remains a significant question mark.
The Raiders will boast one of the most fearsome defensive line combinations, with Wilkins, who had a career-high
nine sacks last season, on the inside and three-time Pro Bowler Maxx Crosby (27 sacks over the last two seasons
combined) off the edge.
