Becker revealed on Tuesday that he and Rune were parting ways since he was unable to work and travel extensively

with the world’s number seven. This statement came shortly after Severin Luthi stated that he was also leaving Rune.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Rune stated that after 15 years of working with the same coach (Lars

Christensen), he found it difficult to find a perfect fit with a new coach.

“As you know, throughout the last year, I’ve experimented with several coaching constellations. Working with the

same coach for 15 years, which is my whole tennis career, makes it difficult to discover the perfect fit on the first try.

I’ve learnt a lot and discovered what’s vital for me to feel good while still developing in the way I desire. I have huge

dreams and goals, and I need people around me who share my vision and who I can trust to help me achieve them. I

need folks who know me and can be there all the time. This brings me peace and satisfaction in a world where the

surroundings and conditions change every week.

Rune thanked Christensen, Becker, and Luthi in his statement and promised to announce his new coach shortly.

“I want to thank all the people involved in the process, Lars, Boris, Severin, I love you, and I am happy to shortly

inform more about my final coaching set-up.”
