Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has disclosed that Sergio Perez will use “more or less” the same setup as his
colleague Max Verstappen this season. The Austrian has underlined that the present car’s speed is due to its lack of
“good-nature,” which differs from what the Mexican driver is used to.
Sergio Perez comes into another season with the Red Bull squad, with his contract scheduled to expire at the end of
2024, and there are great expectations for him to provide strong results in order to secure a contract extension. This
is especially important given his tough 2023 season, which sparked initial concerns.
Fortunately, his contribution to the Milton Keynes team, which has resulted in a 1-2 finish in both races this season,
has paid off, with the driver now sitting comfortably second in the driver standings. Marko has now admitted that
Perez is approaching his race setup from a different perspective than last year. In his Speedweek essay, the Red Bull
advisor discussed the modifications Perez has made this season.
Marko explained that Perez favors a “good-natured” car, which is why the RB18, Red Bull’s 2022 challenger, was
better suited to him. Despite this, the RB18 was not as fast as the following two models, albeit it was easier to drive.
Verstappen’s extraordinary ability to control a jittery rear of the car distinguishes him from other drivers and gives
him a major edge. Marko added:
