While the teams are preparing for what promises to be a highly fierce 2024 Formula 1 season, some are already moving their pieces, like Red Bull, which is looking for a prospective replacement to Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez.
This shift would take effect for the 2025 season, during which various movements in the top category have already begun to take shape, most notably Lewis Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes for Ferrari.
Australian journalist Peter Windsor, a Formula One expert, claims that Red Bull has chosen Thai driver Alexander Albon to be Max Verstappen’s teammate beginning in 2025.
Albon had already worked with the Austrian squad, but when Sergio Perez from Force India joined the team in 2021, the Thai driver left.
Red Bull has yet to unveil its plans for 2025, as it seeks to repeat as the top team in the Formula One World Championship in 2024, with Verstappen defending his championship and the company aiming to repeat as constructors’ World Championship champions.
In an interview with the High Performance Podcast, Alexander Albon stated that his performance at Red Bull was greater than Checo’s in 2023, when the Mexican finished second in the premier class of motorsport.
“I performed better than Checo Perez at Red Bull. Max qualified third, fourth, or even fifth. He occasionally finished races, generally in third or fourth place. So in certain races, I’d be around three or four tenths behind him.
