An Open Letter from Quarterback Will Howard to Quinn Ewers, Fans, and the Entire Ohio State Buckeyes Community
Dear Quinn, Buckeye Fans, and Ohio State Community,
As I sit here reflecting on the journey we’ve both been a part of this season, I wanted to take a moment to share some thoughts and extend my gratitude, not just as a competitor, but as a fellow student-athlete who respects what it means to wear the jersey and represent the storied legacy of a program like Ohio State.
First and foremost, Quinn, I want to commend you on the outstanding season you’ve had. From the moment you stepped onto the field for Ohio State, you’ve proven why you’re one of the top quarterbacks in college football. It’s clear to everyone that your ability, leadership, and poise in critical moments have been key to the success of this team. It’s not easy being the face of a program with such high expectations, but you’ve embraced that challenge with a level of professionalism and skill that sets you apart. Whether it was the incredible throws you made in tough situations or your ability to manage the game, you’ve shown exactly why you belong at the top of the college football world.
To the fans, I want to say thank you. The energy, passion, and unwavering support you’ve shown for Ohio State football are unmatched. As a player, there’s no greater motivation than knowing you have a community that stands behind you, no matter the odds. Watching you cheer on your team in the stadium, feeling the intensity of the Buckeye spirit, it’s something every player should experience. I’ve always respected the love you have for your team and how you show up, weekend after weekend, bringing everything you’ve got to support your guys on the field.
The Ohio State community is one of the most dedicated, loyal, and knowledgeable in all of college football. There’s a standard that comes with the Buckeyes, and it’s one that I respect deeply. I know what it’s like to face the immense pressure that comes with being part of a program with such a rich tradition. The history, the fans, the expectations—none of it is ever easy to live up to. But as you all know, it’s also what makes the wins so rewarding, and the losses that much harder. However, it’s through those challenges that we all grow as players, as teams, and as a community.
To the coaches, staff, and everyone who supports the program, thank you for your tireless work in making Ohio State one of the best football programs in the country. Your commitment to excellence doesn’t go unnoticed, and I am proud to compete alongside such a well-coached, disciplined group of players.
Finally, to everyone who has been a part of my own journey, know that I’m always striving to be the best I can be, both on and off the field. While we may be rivals on game days, it’s the mutual respect we have for each other that truly makes college football special. I look forward to many more battles between us, Quinn, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. May the rest of the season be filled with success for you and your team, and I’m excited to continue the fight on the field in the years to come.
