An Open Letter from Jared Goff to Jordan Love, NFC North Fans, and the Detroit Lions Community
Dear Jordan Love, NFC North Fans, and the Detroit Lions Community,
As I sit here reflecting on the challenges and triumphs of this season, I wanted to take a moment to address something that has been on my mind: the journey that we, as quarterbacks, have been on in this division. This message is not just a nod to the rivalry and competition that defines the NFC North, but also an acknowledgment of the respect I have for the process, the fans, and the incredible sense of unity that binds us all.
Jordan, I want to start by acknowledging you as a quarterback in the NFC North. There is something special about this division, a unique intensity that rivals are born from, but also a camaraderie among quarterbacks who stand under the bright lights of Lambeau Field, Ford Field, Soldier Field, and U.S. Bank Stadium. I have seen your growth and the way you’ve taken the reins as the Green Bay Packers’ leader. The spotlight isn’t always easy to handle, but from one QB to another, I know you have what it takes to carry the expectations that come with that role. I’ve had my own share of ups and downs throughout my career, and I see the same determination in you. Keep pushing and learning; the journey is long, but the rewards are there for those who put in the work.
To the fans of the NFC North: what a ride it has been! Every year, you bring the passion, the excitement, and the energy that makes this division one of the most electric in the NFL. I’ve had the privilege of playing in front of Lions fans for the past few seasons, and it’s hard to put into words how much your support means to me and my teammates. The pride you take in your team, the relentless backing you give even when the road is tough, is something truly special. You’ve been with us through the highs and the lows, and I cannot express how much that loyalty motivates me every single day. You are the heart of this city, and I am so proud to play for you.
And finally, to the Detroit Lions community: I am grateful for the opportunity to represent this team and its rich history. When I arrived in Detroit, I knew this city had been waiting for a winner, and I felt an immense responsibility to be part of the group that would help turn the page. Every time I put on that uniform, I think of the fans who have been waiting for a breakthrough. The city of Detroit, known for its resilience, deserves a team that reflects that same spirit. We’ve come a long way together, and while we’re not finished yet, I believe the future is brighter than ever. We are building something here, and it’s about much more than just football. It’s about the pride of this city, the unwavering commitment to success, and the belief that we can rise above any challenge.
I know our rivalry with the Packers, and with all the teams in the NFC North, will always be fierce. But at the end of the day, it’s about respect. We all know what it takes to play at this level, and that mutual understanding creates a bond, even among competitors.
