An Open Letter from Ken Roczen to Jett Lawrence, Fans, and the Entire Motocross and Supercross Community
Dear Jett, fans, and the motocross and supercross community,
As I sit here reflecting on my journey in this sport, I wanted to take a moment to address not only Jett Lawrence but also each and every one of you who has supported me throughout the years. This letter comes from the heart, and I hope it resonates with all who share the passion for motocross and supercross.
To Jett Lawrence:
First and foremost, Jett, I want to congratulate you on everything you’ve accomplished in such a short period of time. Watching your growth and dominance on the track has been nothing short of inspiring. You’ve come into this sport with a refreshing mindset, blending talent, hard work, and an undeniable swagger that has quickly earned you respect from fans, riders, and industry folks alike.
But beyond your natural ability, what I admire most is your approach to racing. You exude a sense of confidence that doesn’t come across as arrogance, and that balance is something that can’t be faked. You’ve handled the pressure and expectations like a seasoned veteran, which I know hasn’t always been easy. I remember being in your shoes, facing the weight of anticipation and the competitive grind, and I see in you the same fire I had at your age.
I want to remind you, as you continue to chase titles and build your legacy, to keep doing things your way. There are going to be highs and lows, but it’s important to stay grounded and trust in the process. The sport will demand a lot from you, both physically and mentally, but just know that you have a whole community rooting for you. Keep pushing yourself, keep having fun, and remember that you are one of the brightest stars in this sport.
To the Fans:
To my fans, your unwavering support has meant everything to me. The love, the cheers, the messages of encouragement—each one has fueled my passion for this sport. You all have been by my side through thick and thin, through victories and setbacks, and I can’t thank you enough for your loyalty. You are the heartbeat of this sport, and your energy keeps the motors running, the wheels turning, and the riders charging forward.
Motocross and supercross are sports where dedication, sacrifice, and heart come into play. There’s no easy path to the top, but when the fans believe in us, it makes everything worth it. Whether it’s through the highs of the podium or the lows of adversity, knowing you’re there makes it all feel connected. The support you’ve shown to Jett, and all riders, is what truly unites us as a community. Your passion fuels our desire to give everything we have on that track.
To the Motocross and Supercross Community:
Motocross and supercross have been my life for as long as I can remember. It’s a community that doesn’t just consist of the riders on the track, but also the teams, the mechanics, the sponsors, and most importantly, the fans. We all play a part in making this sport what it is—something that brings people together, pushes boundaries, and fosters a sense of camaraderie.
As I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of this community for many years, I’ve seen its growth and its challenges. I’ve watched the younger generation rise and make their mark, just as I did when I was coming up. It’s exciting to see the new wave of riders pushing the envelope, and I’m excited to watch how the future of this sport unfolds. Jett, you’re a big part of that future, and I believe you’re going to inspire the next generation in ways we’ve never seen before.
But I also want to acknowledge the challenges we face. The physical and mental tolls this sport takes on our bodies and minds can’t be underestimated. It requires a level of sacrifice and perseverance that only those who truly love it understand. The injuries, the setbacks, the grind of traveling, and the constant pressure—it all adds up. Yet we keep going because of the love for the sport and the drive to be the best.
I want to take a moment to remind everyone in this community—whether you’re a rider, a fan, or someone working behind the scenes—that we are all in this together. The highs and the lows, the triumphs and the struggles, they are all part of what makes motocross and supercross so special. Let’s continue to support one another, to grow the sport, and to always stay true to the roots of what it means to race.
Jett, the future of this sport is bright, and I’m grateful to have witnessed your rise. To all the fans and the motocross family, thank you for everything you do. Keep riding, keep supporting, and most importantly, keep enjoying the journey.
With all my respect and gratitude,
Ken Roczen
