An Open Letter from Coach Dan Campbell to the Fans and the Entire NFC North Community
Dear NFC North Fans,
As I sit down to write this letter, I am filled with an immense sense of gratitude and respect for the remarkable passion and energy that each of you brings to the game of football. As your coach, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the strength of this division, not just in the skill of the players but in the hearts of the fans. The NFC North is one of the most storied divisions in all of sports, filled with history, tradition, and rivalries that have stood the test of time. Each year, the stakes feel higher, the intensity more palpable, and the games more unforgettable.
This letter is an expression of my thanks to each of you — the fans, the families, and the supporters who make this division the special place it is. I know football means something different to each person, but it always represents community, hope, and pride. It’s the roaring crowds on Sundays, the collective breath held as a game-winning drive begins, and the feeling that, no matter the outcome, we’re all in this together. That’s the spirit of the NFC North, and I feel honored to be part of it.
When I took over as head coach of the Detroit Lions, I made a promise to myself and to you — to be a part of something bigger than just a game. This franchise has a long history, one filled with highs and lows, and it’s been my mission to create a culture that embodies toughness, resilience, and, above all, respect. Respect for the game, respect for the opponents, and respect for you, the fans who support us through it all.
The NFC North has always been a battle-tested division. We have some of the most passionate fanbases, and every single game is a challenge. Whether it’s the Bears, Packers, Vikings, or Lions, there is an understanding that every season brings new opportunities for greatness. This is where legends are made.
I want to acknowledge the other teams and their fans. Whether you wear blue and silver, green and gold, purple, or orange and navy, we are all part of something larger than ourselves. Rivalries will always exist, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The passion that each fan base brings to the stadium, the tailgates, the conversations after the game — this is what makes us who we are.
