An Open Letter from Jett Lawrence to Ken Roczen, Fans, and the Entire Motocross Community
Dear Ken, Fans, and the Entire Motocross Community,
I hope this letter finds you all well. As I sit here reflecting on everything that’s transpired over the past year, I wanted to take a moment to share some thoughts from the heart. First and foremost, I want to give a special shout-out to Ken Roczen, one of the true legends of this sport, who has been an inspiration to me and so many others. Ken, you’ve paved the way for us, and what you’ve been able to do for motocross is immeasurable.
Ken, Thank You
Ken, I have always looked up to you. Watching you race has been such a privilege, and the resilience you’ve shown throughout your career has been nothing short of remarkable. There were moments when we all thought you might never come back from some of the injuries you’ve faced, but each time, you came back stronger. Your perseverance is something that drives me on the track, and I know I’m not alone in saying that.
In addition to your speed and skill, you’ve brought a unique energy to motocross. You’ve always been yourself—no masks, no pretensions—and that’s one of the things I admire most. You’ve set the bar high not only for your riding but for your character off the bike, too. The way you handle adversity and show up each time with a positive attitude has been a lesson for everyone, whether they race or not.
I want to say thank you. Thank you for the battles you’ve fought, the victories you’ve shared, and the spirit you’ve brought to the sport. You’ve inspired a whole new generation of riders, including myself, and I will always be grateful for the impact you’ve had on this sport.
To the Fans
I also want to take a moment to address the fans—because let’s face it, you all make this sport what it is. Every time I’ve gone out there on the track, I’ve felt your energy, your passion, and your support. Whether it’s a cheering crowd in the stadium or fans watching from home, I see you, and I appreciate you more than words can say.
Motocross is as much about the fans as it is about the riders. It’s the energy you bring that pushes us to dig deeper and go harder, and I want to thank you for being with us every step of the way. The highs, the lows, the crashes, the triumphs—you’re right there with us, living it all, and it means the world. The respect and love you give the riders is something that I know Ken, and all of us, are deeply grateful for.
We’re all in this together. Every battle on the track is for you—the fans who inspire us to push harder, ride better, and be the best versions of ourselves. The sport’s journey would not be the same without your unwavering support, and I just want to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everything.
To the Motocross Community
To the entire motocross community, you’re truly like a family to me. The connections we share, the camaraderie that comes with our passion for racing—it’s what makes this sport so special. From the mechanics to the media to the sponsors and the teams, everyone plays a part in the success we see on the track. What we do wouldn’t be possible without the support of everyone in the paddock, and I want to acknowledge that.
But beyond all the racing and competition, what I love most about motocross is the way we lift each other up. There’s a sense of community here that’s unlike anything else. It’s not about one rider or one race—it’s about all of us coming together to push the sport forward, to learn from each other, and to grow as individuals and as a community.
We’ve seen some incredible moments over the years, and there are countless more ahead of us. The riders of tomorrow are coming up fast, and the sport is evolving every single day. What matters most, though, is that we continue to keep the spirit of motocross alive—the respect, the hard work, the dedication, and the passion.
I’m excited to be a part of this sport’s future, and I look forward to all the challenges and victories that lie ahead. And Ken, no matter where the future takes you, know that you’ve left a mark on the sport that will never fade.
Looking Ahead
As I continue to chase my own dreams, I’ll do so with the knowledge that you, Ken, have been one of the trailblazers who set the foundation for so many of us to follow. To the fans, I promise to keep pushing myself, and to the motocross community, I’ll always strive to honor the sport that’s given me so much.
Thank you, everyone, for everything. Let’s keep this incredible journey going.
Sincerely,
Jett Lawrence
