Breaking: An Open Letter from Savannah Bananas Captain Bill LeRoy To Tailgaters Star Travis Moniot, Fans And The Entire Savannah Community

To Travis, to our beloved fans, and to the entire Savannah family,

There are moments in life when the game of baseball feels so much bigger than the score, bigger than the box score, and bigger than the field itself. Today is one of those moments. I write this letter not only as the captain of the Savannah Bananas, but as a grateful son of this community, a brother to every teammate who has worn the yellow and green, and as a friend to every fan who has danced, cheered, and believed in what we’re building together.

First, to my brother in this journey, Travis Moniot. We’ve shared more than just innings and highlights — we’ve shared a vision of baseball that flips the script, challenges the norms, and reminds the world that sports are meant to unite, to entertain, and to inspire joy. Watching you with the Tailgaters has been proof that this spirit is spreading like wildfire. Your energy, your leadership, and your willingness to embrace the wild, the fun, and the unconventional, makes you more than just a ballplayer — it makes you an ambassador for a new era of baseball. Travis, thank you for daring to dream as loudly as we do.

To the fans — the lifeblood of this movement — you are the reason the Bananas exist, and the reason we thrive. You’ve proven, night after night under the lights at Grayson Stadium and across every stop on the Banana Ball World Tour, that baseball can be a festival, a family reunion, and a love letter to joy all at once. From the moment the gates open and you line up in banana suits, to the seventh-inning singalongs, to the way you carry this spirit into your communities, you’ve made Savannah more than just a baseball town. You’ve made it the epicenter of joy in sports.

I’ll never forget the kids in the stands who bring homemade signs, their eyes wide with wonder. I’ll never forget the grandfathers and grandmothers who come up after a game with tears in their eyes, saying they haven’t smiled like that at a ballpark in decades. And I’ll never forget the thousands of fans who have embraced us not as a gimmick, but as a family. You are proof that baseball doesn’t just belong to the past — it belongs to the future, and that future is bright, bold, and fun.

To the Savannah community — you’ve given us your streets, your voices, and your hearts. From local businesses who support us, to schools that invite us to share our stories, to the families who welcome us like neighbors — thank you. Every chant, every cheer, every honk of a horn driving down Victory Drive reminds me that this team is more than players in uniforms. We are part of the Savannah fabric, and we wear it proudly.

This open letter is also a promise. A promise that the Bananas will never stop pushing boundaries, never stop chasing smiles, and never stop believing that baseball can be reimagined. The world has enough seriousness, enough division, enough noise. Our field is a place for unity, for joy, and for the beautiful reminder that laughter belongs right alongside competition.

Travis, as we look ahead, I hope our paths continue to cross in ways that lift the game higher than ever before. To the fans, I hope you know how much you mean to us — you are the soundtrack of Banana Ball. And to the city of Savannah, I hope you feel the pride we carry in our hearts every time we take the field wearing your name across our jerseys.

Baseball has always been called America’s pastime. But with you — with all of us — it’s becoming America’s future. And that future is fearless, fun, and forever tied to the spirit of Savannah.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being on this journey with us. We are family. We are Bananas. And together, we’re changing the game.

With love, gratitude, and endless joy,

Bill LeRoy

Captain, Savannah Bananas
