DEAL DONE: Michigan has signed four top-level players.

On Early Signing Day, Michigan is not only committing new players, but they are also expanding their class of 2024 recruits.

Lugard Edokpayi, a four-star edge rusher, declared that he would rather commit to Michigan than Maryland, Tennessee, or Minnesota.

Ahead of Michigan’s quest for the College Football Playoffs, ten athletes who signed with the Wolverines last Wednesday, Dec. 20, as members of the 2024 recruiting class have enrolled and started practicing with the team.

Eight of those ten players are traveling with Michigan to the West to play Alabama in Monday’s Rose Bowl (5 p.m. ET, ESPN).

Four-star offensive tackle Blake Frazier, four-star tight end Brady Preiskorn from neighboring Rochester, and quarterback Jadyn Davis are all on the list.

Along on the journey is Jeremiah Beasley, a four-star linebacker from Belleville who, in a rare move, arrived at Michigan for practice prior to signing day.

“I’m really enjoying it. Just being able to have that experience is extremely thrilling,” Beasley said to MLive last week. “Even though I’m not participating in the bowl game, I’m still ecstatic to be able to practice, go outside, and watch Alabama play.”

For true freshmen football players, the signing deadline has sped up the process in recent years, enabling them to enroll before the winter semester and start training in late December. Whether or not they are permitted to travel to (or even take part in) a bowl game is up to the team.

Three-star offensive lineman Jake Guarnera, three-star edge rusher Dominic Nichols, three-star linebacker Cole Sullivan, and four-star athlete Jacob Oden from Harper Woods are also on the list.

Four-star offensive tackle Andrew Sprague and tight end Hogan Hansen are the other two signees who have enrolled but did not travel to southern California. Sprague, a native of Kansas City, will compete in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, on January 6.
