Jesse Marsch confesses he is ‘concerned’ about allowing Mateusz Klich depart Premier League team, with DC United
aiming to entice the long-serving Leeds United playmaker to the MLS, in an interview with Leeds Live.
After four years in which his name appeared to be etched into Marcelo Bielsa’s team roster, Klich is forced to watch
from the substitutes’ bench, which is a fairly unusual circumstance.
Klich, on the other hand, remains a crucial and experienced component of Leeds’ roster, with Marsch questioning
whether a January exit would be the best option for the relegation-threatened team.
“There has been an inquiry on Mateusz. But I believe we are all still wary about deciding that it is time for him to
leave. “I think he’s still very important here,” said the former RB Leipzig coach.
“One noteworthy fact is that he has played the fifth-most matches for me since I’ve been here. He has one of my
favorite personalities among anyone I’ve ever coached. And we have a very nice friendship. We’ve been candid with
each other throughout this process.”
MLS reporter Tom Bogert feels a transfer to Wayne Rooney’s DC United is ‘near’. But Leeds are under no pressure to
sell, as the former FC Twente star still has 18 months left on his contract in West Yorkshire.
“I’m not sure, again, that it’s the time for him to leave,” Marsch says. “(But) I understand that some players would
like to play a little longer. I believe we had a decent discussion about his role in the squad and his future role in the
team. I believe that his departure is not necessarily set in stone.
“He’s definitely a guy I still really like. And we believe he is still an important element of this team.”
